ABOUT MARIAMA

Mariama is a talented young performer from New York City who made her professional debut in Once on This Island’s first National tour in 2019 and her Broadway debut in The Lion King in 2022.

She is a social activist and committed to making the world a better place. She has spoken at the United Nations for their Girls in Science and Girl Power conventions. Some of her community service involvement includes the Teen National Kindness Board with the Be A Friend Project, Broadway Serves, Figure Skating in Harlem, and NYC Kidfest. She was a nationally ranked chess player when she was younger (fun fact her first trip to Disney World was for an Elementary School Chess Nationals Tournament) and also enjoys debate.

Love is Powerful Interview with Creators. A video of Mari at the Women’s March went viral and lead to the children’s book Love is Powerful by Heather Dean Brewer. Mari wrote the letter to the reader included in the book and participated in multiple readings and presentations of the book at indie bookstores and public schools.
